Step 1: Unbox Your Ledger Device

Once you receive your Ledger Nano X or Ledger Nano S Plus, inspect the packaging to ensure it has not been tampered with. Ledger devices are shipped with anti-tampering seals and should come with:

• Your Ledger hardware wallet
• USB cable
• Recovery phrase sheets
• Instruction manual

Never use a Ledger device that appears used or pre-configured. If in doubt, contact Ledger Support.

Step 2: Go to Ledger.com/Start

Visit the official Ledger setup page at Ledger.com/Start. This is the only trusted source to download the Ledger Live app, which is essential for using your device safely.

Choose your device model, then follow the guided instructions on-screen to begin setting up.

Step 3: Download Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the companion app for managing your crypto. Available on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, the app allows you to:

• Install apps for different cryptocurrencies
• Send and receive crypto securely
• Check your portfolio and balances
• Access features like staking and buying crypto

Always download Ledger Live from the official site to avoid counterfeit apps.

Step 4: Set Up Your Ledger Wallet

Once Ledger Live is installed, connect your Ledger device via USB or Bluetooth (for Nano X). Follow the on-screen steps to:

1. Initialize your device as a new wallet or restore an existing one.
2. Choose a secure PIN code. This code will be required every time you use your device.
3. Write down your 24-word recovery phrase – this is your only backup. Store it securely offline and never share it with anyone.

Important: If you lose access to your Ledger and your recovery phrase, your assets cannot be recovered.

Step 5: Install Apps and Manage Assets

Using Ledger Live, you can now install apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum). Each currency requires its own app, which runs directly on your Ledger device.

Once installed, you can generate addresses, receive funds, and confirm transactions securely on your Ledger hardware wallet.

• Only trust URLs starting with https://www.ledger.com
• Never share your 24-word recovery phrase with anyone—not even Ledger
• Use a strong, unique PIN and never write it down near your device
• Always verify transactions on your Ledger screen before confirming
